I feel like Razzia (formerly Rahoot!) is an amazing open source alternative to Kahoot! without the subscription, self-hostable, a place to store & use lessons, quizzes, and tests in a privacy-respectful way.
I only just have my gripes on the easability side, especially on self-hosting, as the only option is Docker and for non-Docker way it requires pnpm on the command-line. I wish something like a portable executable that won't mess with system files and doesn't evolve all the complexity...

I only just have my gripes on the easability side, especially on self-hosting, as the only option is Docker and for non-Docker way it requires pnpm on the command-line. I wish something like a portable executable that won't mess with system files and doesn't evolve all the complexity needed to do at hand existed. Like if I were a teacher and our only devices support Windows (incl. a Windows Server), we'd have to worry about implementation, if Docker would work, tinkering around with networking, if the student's devices would work with Razzia. It's a mess really.
Other than that, I do really like the look of Razzia from the screenshots. I haven't used Razzia yet, so I can't comment too much on that. Maybe a demo instance of Razzia (like ClassQuiz exactly) would be super nice to have a try out with Razzia.
Appreciate the thoughts, but a review from someone who hasn't used it as is based solely on how the app is hosted isn't super helpful.
Hi possum!
A fair point :(
I could have disclaimed better, but it was after all, my first time ever commenting/reviewing on AlternativeTo. I didn't use any AI or tools that help with typing either. Just giving out to people that I thought was at least useful information to know beforehand.
Since it's been a week, I've been using Razzia for a few days and I'll for sure add a review basing off my experience as best as I can.
Thanks for your comment.
