It's a media player, the UI is nice. It doesn't support many formats.

Very low video format support and a horrible user interface. One of the worst popular players around ... I get it is popular because it is better on Apple devices.

Title says all. Quicktime on Windows looks like crap. Quicktime on Mac is a-ok. :D

Streaming internet video with Quicktime totally sucks. I tried watching the iPad 2 keynote on Apple's website via Quicktime today, and the player froze on me at least a dozen times. What, Apple can't just use Flash/HTML5 like normal people?

Quicktime is also a great lightweight video editor if you just want to perform simple tasks like trimming or joining video files. Pro tip: complete your video file in Quicktime and then move it to Adobe Media Encoder for a quick workflow of creating video for Flash.

What is QuickTime Player?

Use QuickTime to watch videos or personal media clips.

QuickTime lets you record part of the screen, it’s perfect for creating a video tutorial of an application. With QuickTime you can trim the length of video clips or combine multiple clips into a single movie. Simply drag the clips you want into a movie window — QuickTime automatically scales or crops them so they match the dimensions of the movie.
