Privatta information
What is Privatta?
WHAT: Privatta is a file transfer tool that allows users to share files safely and directly with specific individuals. It works both offline for local area network (LAN) transfers and online for global transfers. The free version supports internet transfers, Android to laptop transfers, VPN usage, and network whitelisting. The Pro version offers additional features such as user-specific file permissions, user accounts, user groups, and direct connections to a specific machine. An Enterprise version with immutable logging for audit purposes will be available soon.
HOW: For LAN transfers, Privatta establishes a direct encrypted connection between two machines and displays publicly shared files and files available only to permitted users. For internet transfers, it uses a WebRTC direct encrypted connection between users matched by a single-use key. Once the connection is established, the matchmaker server steps out. The server is stateless and does not keep any logs. It is also open source and available for personal use.
SPECIAL FEATURE: Files are only pulled, not sent. Users must actively retrieve files rather than having them pushed onto their devices. This means a user can only access a file if the owner allows it.
