What is Plexamp?
Imagine loving music so much that you pour your heart, soul, and engineering know-how into creating a completely custom music player for audiophiles just like you. Well, that’s exactly what we did. Rediscover, curate, or completely lose yourself in the music that made you with Plexamp.
Years (and a lot of long nights) in the making.
Now free to our music lovers everywhere, Plexamp is more than just an app, it’s a playground for you to explore your library, discover new music, and have fun, all inside a beautifully crafted interface. We’ve reserved a select group of features in the app exclusively for our Plex Pass members.
Radio Star
Our Sonic data provides a superb basis for building Track Radio and Album Radio, which plays sonically similar albums.
In the Mix
Have your server check out the albums you’ve had on heavy rotation recently, cluster them into mixes, or look back in time and make a few historical mixes.
On This Day
Get nostalgic about your music with reminders of an album’s birthday. See what albums were released 20, 30, or even 50 years ago.
Album Types
Not every album is an “album.” Some are live, some are demos, some are EPs. And now we organize albums by type on the artist page.

Comments and Reviews
I never took Plex so seriously until now! Initially I just used it for the free TV and movie streaming. Then when I came across Plexamp, it did make me take my music collection seriously and organise it.
After setting up Plex Server on my NAS, I can enjoy my music on the go. Plus, the integrations with Tidal and Sonos are a nice touch.
The desktop apps are nicely polished, with loads of configuration options, such as fading between tracks, loudness leveling, UI tweaks, etc. I'm pretty sure audiophiles (which I'm not) will find some gems.
However, there are some limitations to be aware of. You can change the appearance of the interface, but there's no full theming. Some of the advanced capabilities are behind a paywall called Plex Pass. Disclaimer: I am subscribed to Plex Pass. In addition, there's not much for extensibility apart from the integrations offered: Tidal, Lyrics, play to Chromecast/Sonos.
EDIT: Adding limitations and disclaimer about additional paid for features
Free music player that links exclusively to your Plex media server. It works better and is much more customizable than the stock Plex app for your music. That's it, nothing else.
