What is PlasmaZones?

PlasmaZones is a window management tool for KDE Plasma 6. It lets users create zones on their screen and move windows into these areas. The tool has features for window snapping, such as dragging windows to zones, snapping all windows at once, moving windows between zones with keyboard shortcuts, and focusing on adjacent zones without a mouse. Users can also cycle through stacked windows, push windows to the first empty zone, and restore window size after unsnapping. It includes a floating toggle for each window and rules for automatically snapping specific apps to zones.

PlasmaZones has a layout editor for drawing and resizing zones, with 12 templates like columns, grids, and fibonacci. It supports operations like undo/redo, copy/paste, cut, and duplicate, and allows zones to be split horizontally or vertically. The tool includes GPU-accelerated zone overlays with 14 effects, and supports multi-monitor setups and virtual desktops, with layouts for each monitor, virtual desktop, and activity.

The software integrates with system settings through a KCM module with 7 tabs, eliminating the need for config file editing. It also includes a built-in update checker with GitHub release notifications.
