PlaneShift is not dead, it is moving... to Unreal Engine, to be more precise. True, right now the player base is small. But come see us on Saturday evening for special events that draw larger crowds. Once the Unreal version is open to the public, we will take up advertising again. Please remember that PlaneShift is and always will be FFP - Fully Free to Play. And we love RP.
This one comes up in a lot of searches for free MMOs, I do like the idea of an open source RPG, but I don't think this one is going anywhere.
This one seems to be dead. The registration process is broken (Captcha shutdown for being outdated), and the server status shows 2 people online in the middle of the day--worldwide. The last entries in their forum seem to be from last year, although there are a few whispers from a few months ago. Sad, it seems like an open source MMO is a cool thing to do.
