It has a user-friendly interface that clearly shows where everything is located and what it does. The software is available for multiple platforms – iOS and Android devices, Mac, Windows, and Linux.
By installing pCloud on your computer (through its desktop application pCloud Drive), the app creates a secure virtual drive which expands your local storage space. Every change you make in your pCloud can be seen immediately on your computer, phone or tablet. All your devices are instantly synchronized and you have direct file access to any update you make.

pCloud is one of the few services that just shows up as a drive on my computer, which is exactly what I want. I don't want a backup program that just backs up any and everything on my hard drive.
Why I Don't Like Whole Hard Drive Backup Services
First of all, I have have multiple hard drives, my main one being 8 TB. I calculated that it would take, "3 years, 5 months and 25 days" to upload my entire 8 TB drive with my current available upload speed at 0.8 Mbps (which is the fastest available in my area). I'm sure my files wouldn't stay static the whole time it's being uploaded either.
Why I Don't Like Folder Sync Services
Syncing a folder is nice, as long as it's a smaller folder, which is why Dropbox Free works perfect for me (I've used referrals to get up my storage up to 20 GB). Their 'Plus' plan offers 2 TB of syncing space, which is way more that I'd like to be constantly syncing anyway. That would be 2 TB of files taking up space on my hard drive. The initial sync would take quite some time also. Plus pCloud does offer the ability to sync any folder on your hard drive (or multiple, different folders) if you do want syncing folder(s).
As a Drive
With pCloud all my files are in my pCloud drive (which happens to be drive P:\ in 'My Computer', 'Computer' or 'This PC' or whatever Windows decides to call it in the future). This way I can decide which files to put in the drive and it won't be taking up space on my hard drive. They also offer Lifetime plans for a fair price (when it's on sale). It's really nice to not have to pay any monthly or yearly fees. Plus the lifetime plans can stack, which I have done twice so far, which brought my storage to 4 TB.
Creates virtual drive on your computer which you can use as a normal drive in your file manager.
They act as scam. ~2 years ago they advertised themselves as being located in Switzerland and as so you'd have all protection from there, and leading you to believe that. Happens that their file storage servers were actually only in the US. Now they have servers in Europe, but they will charge you a 20$ or more fee to transfers your files, even if you're already a [victim] client of theirs. So you know what? Don't ever support a shady company like pCloud.
Good value and lifetime subscription is good. However there are too many synchronisation errors and issues. Seems to have particular issues with Macs. I'd still recommend it to people on PCs, as long as they didn't need to sync between several computers (Edit: I am now also seeing issues with synchronising between two PCs). I'm hoping they make improvements because mostly it works well (and I bought a lifetime subscription!), but if the issues persist I'll be swapping to one of the bigger providers.
P.s. It's a real pity because Pcloud offer exactly what I want - a no frills syncronisation service at a reasonable cost. It just needs to be more reliable.
NO END-TO-END ENCRYPTION. Service is good, but that should not be listed and is the most significant issue, IMO. Their pricing does not even include their crypto solution, which is server-side, which costs extra. Despite the strength of encryption, companies often have to comply with various orders, and if they have a 'master key' (call it that for simplicity), they can unlock your data. Even rogue employees with access to keys could compromise data.
All that being said, pCloud is a good solution. Much better than any of the large providers for consumers and very easy to use. If they build in an option for end-to-end encryption, they could be the best. There is the matter of jurisdiction, and you can choose the EU even if in the US, but if you don't know better, you could store data in 5 eyes country. And then confusing pricing due to crypto being an add on, having to dig for monthly plans, monthly plans only available for certain types of plans, if want family plan need a longer term.
Data access is very fast, though privacy is another matter, even though claimed as GDPR compliant. In an older license they mentioned how User Content would be "analysed" to be compliant with their policies - like not be blasphemous: under whom point of view?
In the present license they state: "We may display advertisements in connection with your User Content". Excuse me?
Great prices and just works. Hopefully this company will last forever.
