I have decided to replace VLC with Parole. I had used VLC since I moved from Win10 to Linux Mintv19 - but I found Parole MUCH FASTER + Cleaner to use for viewing MP4 Video files. IMHO it is a very lightweight alternative.

Parole for XFCE works, often a bit better than Audacious, which is not listed as an alternative However, Audacious does have a built in equalizer, but is primarily for audio files (not video.) I have both installed.
