oxi is a native desktop coding agent written in Rust. It runs as a single binary with no Electron and no account, and idles at around 110 MB of RAM.
Run open models on your own machine: pick a GGUF model from Hugging Face and oxi installs llama-server, downloads the model and runs it, locally or on a GPU box over SSH. Ollama and LM Studio work too. Or bring the Claude Code, Codex or Cursor subscription you already pay for over the Agent Client Protocol (ACP), sign in with ChatGPT, or use any API. A Router can pick a provider per task and switch when a quota runs out.
The agent reads, searches and edits code, runs commands, searches the web and calls your MCP servers, with optional approval for edits and commands. Review its changes in a side-by-side or inline diff editor with Stage and Discard on every block. Git (stage, commit, branch, compare, pull, push) and a terminal are built in, and plan mode investigates before changing any file.
Also included: chats saved per workspace, local Whisper voice dictation, AGENTS.md support and five themes. Free and open source under the MIT license.
