What is Oryxis?

Oryxis is a desktop SSH/SFTP client with a modern UI, an encrypted local vault for credentials, and no cloud account anywhere in the loop. No Electron, no webview, no vendor servers. Just a single native binary.

Most SSH clients make you pick two out of three: powerful but dated, pretty but Electron-heavy, or minimal and terminal-only. Oryxis aims at all three: beautiful, fast, and native.

Your credentials stay yours. Passwords and keys live in an encrypted local vault (Argon2id + ChaCha20-Poly1305), never in plaintext, never on someone else's server. Optional peer-to-peer sync keeps your hosts in step across your own devices over QUIC + mDNS — LAN-direct, or through a relay you host yourself. There is no Oryxis account to create and nothing for us to see.

A real terminal, not a web view. Embedded native terminal with 14 built-in themes plus fully custom ones, URL/IP/path detection, scrollback search, split panes with broadcast input, and OSC 8 hyperlinks. Because it's native, it's quick to open and light on your machine.

Everything a power session needs. Jump hosts and bastions, SOCKS/HTTP/command proxies, -L/-R/-D port forwarding as saved rules, a built-in SSH agent, TOTP 2FA autofill, and biometric unlock. Files come along for the ride: full SFTP, a hybrid tab that flips any session between shell and dual-pane file browser, and remote zip/tar archive operations.

Cloud and infra, first-class. Discover and connect to AWS (EC2/ECS), Kubernetes, GCP, and Azure workloads straight from the host list, through pluggable providers.

Built for the way you work. A per-session AI assistant, snippets with variables, command history, session recording (asciinema .cast export), an MCP server for editors and agents, plus Telnet, Serial, and one-click RDP/VNC over SSH. Fully keyboard-navigable, and localized into 23 languages with full RTL support.

Free and open source. Windows, macOS, and Linux.
