Orbem Studio

Orbem Studio is a no-code 2D browser game engine built as a WordPress plugin, with a hosted platform at orbem.studio. Unlike most browser game engines, it renders entirely on the DOM rather than canvas or WebGL, which means a game is a standard web page rather than a self-contained rendering surface embedded in one. The practical consequence is that there is no export or build step at all: a game is live and playable at its own URL from the moment you start building it, and every change is immediately reflected for anyone visiting that link. Games are created through a visual front-end builder where assets are placed, configured, and playtested directly inside the running game, without switching between an editor mode and a play mode.

The engine supports top-down and side-scrolling movement, gravity-based platformer physics with jumping, NPC dialogue and branching conversations, missions and progression systems, inventory and item collection, combat with multiple enemy types, melee and projectile weapons, cutscenes, and boss fights, all configured without writing code. It also includes Orbem Studio Paint, a built-in pixel art tool with layer support and frame-based animation, so sprites can be drawn, animated, and placed into a game without leaving the browser or using external software. Native Aseprite file import is supported for artists who already work in that tool, and a built-in marketplace lets creators purchase pixel art, music, and sound effects from other artists directly inside the asset selection interface.
