Nesso is an open-source (MIT), local-first app for building a personal knowledge graph. You connect concepts with typed, directed relations such as "causes", "part of" or "example of", and organize them in views: named subsets of the same graph, so a concept can appear in several contexts without duplicates. Concepts that share a relation are grouped automatically, so the map stays readable as it grows.
Most note-taking apps store documents and leave the connections between ideas in the background. Nesso puts them at the center: you decide how ideas relate, and that is where understanding is built. AI can help you explore and organize, but it doesn't build the map for you.
Concepts have Markdown notes, and each view has its own notes page for plans, questions and ideas. The bundled Review plugin schedules spaced repetition with FSRS. Your graph stays on your device and the app has no telemetry. Optional AI chat works with your own API key or a local model, and a local MCP server connects external assistants. Plugins add relation vocabularies, themes and actions.
Available for macOS, Windows and Linux, with a browser demo at app.nesso.how.
