What is My Lockbox?
My Lockbox is a security software enabling you to password protect any folder on your computer.
The protected folder is hidden from any user and application of your system, including Administrator and System itself. It is impossible to access the lockbox not only from the local computer, but also from the net.
The program is extremely easy to use. You can set the lockbox location and the password during the setup procedure. After the setup is done, lockbox will be hidden and locked until you enter the valid password.
The default installer contains OpenCandy, but a version without it is available for download. Be careful during the installation: https://alternativeto.net/discussions/applications/11718/be-careful-in-the-installation/

My Lockbox is a risky program to use and I just found this out the hard way. I used it for several months and everything seemed fine until it decided to update and then proceeded to wipe out everything it was hiding. I lost everything with this program so it's a good thing I had those files in another place. I would not trust any program where you are prompted to restart windows in order for it to work. There are two very good alternatives called PrivateFolder and Lock-A-Folder that are free, do not require a restart of windows, and are very safe to use.
I have had to ditch My Lockbox! Each time I install it with Windows 7 (x64), the o/s freezes and I have to use system restore to get things working again. It's a shame as otherwise it appears to be a nice little program.
So ......... onto the next one.
Tried it, and it seems to work fine in Windows 7, but files are no longer hidden when I boot to Live DVD in Mint... Any user-friendly alternatives out there, without having to re-format or totally encrypt an HDD partition?
Thanks! Frank_S
