5R is much more powerful and versatile
4R is a programming language, even if somewhat specialized. Minitab is an application which makes statistical analysis easy. In R, you write code, in Minitab you click around and choose various graphs and stats to be calculated. Sure, Minitab does have some scripting capability, but so does Excel...
3Cost, functionality. There are an amazing amount of packages available to implement different analyses, the amount of support and documentation is incredible. Then the ability to create GUIs using Shiny is great for distribution of your work to colleagues and associates to use.
1As a programming language, R requires difficult setup and in-depth technical knowledge. Even if R has some statistical capabilities, it cannot compare to a dedicated statistical application like minitab.

Number Analytics Features
Number Analytics vs Minitab opinions
newyorkerBeginners in statistical analysis would benefit the most from Number Analytics. Minitab requires some level of statistical knowledge like t-value, p-value, F-value to understand ANOVA, chi-square test. You have to select what kinds of statistical analysis is appropriate for a case. Number Analytics automatically applies the right statistical model for you so that beginners would be the right target. However advanced statistical analysis is limited at Number Analytics compared to Minitab.
0wjs_greatI tried Minitab and Number Analytics. For beginners, it would be better to start with Number Analytics. It is much simpler to use and has less options to choose. The graphical interface is better as it has more color coded tables and interactive graphs.
0For basic statistics like descriptive statistics, ANOVA, T-test, Linear Regression are also available. It is easier to use but the functionalities are limited for professional statistical analysis.
0snam2I used Minitab for basic statisticcal analysis like t-test, ANOVA test, and regression analysis. The basic statistical analysis results are comparable with those from Number Analytics. For those who start to learn basic statistics would benefit from Number Analytics because it is free for basic statistics. The basic plan is limited to use less than 2M byte data file, but for learning statistics, it would be good enough.
