Comments about Luanti (formerly Minetest) as an Alternative to Minecraft
Great performance and very easy to use in a local network.
Free and open source software with no ads. Easy setup and customizing your own world. Designed to work well even in low-end machine. Available in more than 20 languages. Constantly developed by community.
Everyone likes Minetest but it is not compatible with Minecraft. I recently googled Minecraft web client and found mcraft fun which is also open source, worked insanely well in my case, and I wish there were more projects like this. Like compatible with Minecraft in any way: make some migrations tools or anything, please! But still a very interesting project with a large community though!
I like Minetest because it's open source
If you just want a better minecraft, this is probably the closest you can get. However, if you're looking for a game that actually fixes the underlying design, you may want to keep scrolling.
