What is LLT — Local Live Translator?

LLT runs OpenAI Whisper and NVIDIA Parakeet entirely on-device on Apple Silicon — audio never leaves the Mac, which makes it GDPR-compliant by design and keeps it fast: transcription starts immediately, with no cloud round-trips.

A global hotkey (Cmd-Opt-D) starts system-wide dictation that types directly into any app — mail client, editor, browser, chat. While dictating, LLT can translate live into a different output language, and it streams live subtitles to OBS and vMix for streaming and live production. Whisper covers 100+ languages. A free iOS companion app turns an iPhone into a wireless microphone over the local network.

Setup is genuinely install-and-go: the speech backend (a self-contained Python runtime with the selected models) is downloaded and installed from inside the app — no Homebrew, no terminal, no admin rights. Updates work the same way: the app downloads, verifies and installs new versions itself.

Dictation and translation behavior can be tuned in detail: engine and model selection (Whisper sizes / Parakeet), input and output languages, and voice activity settings such as pause and phrase detection that adapt recognition to your own speaking rhythm — whether you dictate in short bursts or long uninterrupted sentences.

One-time purchase ($29), 14-day full trial, no subscription, no cloud account, no ads.
