LightPhotos

LightPhotos is a fast photo culling and editing tool, a lighter alternative to Lightroom for sorting through a shoot and picking the keepers. It is free and open source, written in Rust, and runs on macOS, Windows, Linux and in the browser.

Open a folder to see its photos as a grid of thumbnails. Rate them with the number keys, flag picks and rejects, add color labels, and filter or sort the grid to narrow it down. Open any photo in the Loupe view to zoom to 100% and pan instantly. Photos are loaded onto the GPU once, so zooming never waits for the image to load again. A filmstrip lets you step through the folder without going back to the grid.

Features:

• Supports JPEG, PNG, TIFF and camera RAW files (HEIC on macOS)
• Ratings, pick/reject flags, color labels, filters and sorting
• Stacks bursts of similar shots together, with side-by-side compare
• Quality score for each photo, based on focus, exposure, noise and closed eyes (macOS)
• Basic editing: white balance, exposure, highlights, vibrance and other tone sliders, plus Auto, B&W, crop and before/after compare
• Exports to JPEG at the size you choose, or uploads to an Immich server
• Shows the camera, lens, exposure, date and location of each photo
• Shortcuts follow Lightroom's; press ? to see them all
• English and Chinese interface (more language coming soon), light, gray and dark themes.

Your originals are never modified. Ratings and edits are saved as small files in a .lightphotos folder next to your photos. There is no catalog to import into and no account to sign up for.
