What is Keyboard Designer?
Keyboard Designer is an Android keyboard whose layout the user designs themselves: rows, keys, sizes and colors are fully adjustable. Each key can be assigned functions for tap, hold and swipe gestures, separately per mode (uppercase, lowercase, symbols). Keyboards are built largely by choosing from lists rather than by manual scripting.
Word suggestions are based on downloadable word lists (multiple languages); users can import their own lists as JSON or CSV. The app requests no permissions and works entirely offline - data is only brought in via the system share function.
Optional in-app packages extend the feature set: the Extended Design Package (including import/export of designs, unlimited rows and keys) and the Extended Keyboard Package (additional function types).
There is also a Wear OS version: the keyboard design is created on the phone and sent to the smartwatch. Text fields on the watch can additionally be filled by typing on the phone.
