Comment summary: KDE Connect is praised for its easy setup, seamless integration of Android phones with Linux desktops, and comprehensive features. Users appreciate its functionality for file sharing, notification mirroring, and control of media playback. However, there are some drawbacks noted, such as limited configuration options with certain devices, issues with Windows compatibility, and inability to send multiple files simultaneously. Despite being free and open-source, users suggest improvements in screen mirroring and user interface design.

Don't let the name deceive you - it works perfectly even without a KDE (Plasma) desktop environment. I only wish it had a way to filter out some notifications as I don't want to be informed twice of every Telegram message.

I couldn't get this to work with a Pixel 6 Pro and Windows 10. After giving permissions for everything, it would control media players, but that's about it. There's also no real configuration options, or ways to diagnose issues, so the whole thing feels pretty half-baked. Maybe it's better on Linux?

Super easy & convenient to use. Easy to install. Easy set up. Nice feature to be able to use your phone as your mouse/keyboard and send commands to your PC. I really only wanted to connect my phone so this went above and beyond expectations an d I was pleasantly surprised.

very easy to install and use, I was looking for a multimedia remote control and I found a lot of very useful functions, for controlling slides, sending files, remote mouse, and keyboard, etc

A cross-platform FOSS? Yes, please! It is so handy to have if you're in a bind like me with a macOS laptop and Android phone. I also have this installed on my Linux laptop running Zorin OS.

If you are using KDE Plasma, then you can take advantage of the browser integration.

What I like about it

  • I get to see notifications on my computer screen and not have to pick up the phone when I hear that beep.
  • Can send SMS message directly from the computer.
  • The clipboard sharing is so handy - though when it comes to URLs I push them via Firefox.

What I don't like

  • Feels a little resource hungry.
  • It can really drain the phone battery.
  • Okay this is a wishlist item, but it'll be awesome to mirror the screen to the desktop.
  • Can do with a facelift to modernise it.
  • ~macOS version has not been updated in a while~ - Just noticed a new release as of 2024-06-04 so will give it another go.

Excellent no-nonsense way to connect your phone to PC, or even phone to phone.

It's a good app nonetheless to connect your smartphone to function more than normal smartphone the missing mirroring function make this app a bit lower than scrcpy and myphone explorer

What is KDE Connect?

KDE Connect is a software that facilitates inter-device communication. It allows users to receive phone notifications and reply to messages on desktop computers. It also enables control of desktop music from a phone, and the execution of predefined commands on a PC from connected devices. Users can monitor a phone's battery level, ring the phone, and share files and links between devices. It also allows browsing a phone from a desktop, controlling the desktop's volume using a phone, and sending SMS from the desktop.
