Jarq is a menu-bar app for macOS that works on text inside whatever app is in front. Select text and press ⌥T, or hover the small dot that appears next to the selection, and a row of actions opens: translate into one of 13 languages (including Kazakh and Uzbek), improve, shorten, fix, or run a custom instruction. The result appears in a bubble next to the text and can be inserted in place, or inserted automatically if that option is on.
In Notion, Slack and Google Docs the original formatting is kept — headings, lists, mentions and blocks come back with only the words changed. ⌥T also works where macOS does not expose the selection, such as Figma, terminals and Telegram.
Dictation: press ⌥`, speak, press again, and punctuated text is pasted at the cursor. You can speak one language and have another typed. An optional local Whisper model runs dictation entirely on the Mac, offline.
Requires macOS 13 or later on Apple Silicon. 14-day trial with everything included, then a free plan of 5 translations or dictations a day; Pro is $4.99/month, $39/year or $200 once.
