What is HashCopy?
HashCopy copies files from memory cards and external drives on macOS and verifies every file by checksum, reading back what was actually written to the destination instead of trusting the operating system's report.
It uses xxHash64 by default (the de facto standard among offload tools) or MD5 when a delivery contract requires it, and offers three verification modes: file size only, destination hash (default), and source + destination hash, which re-reads the source to rule out unstable card reads before the card is formatted.
Each transfer writes an MHL (Media Hash List) and a plain-text report next to the copied footage, so other post-production tools can re-verify the material later. It can copy to multiple destinations at once, verifying each one independently, and includes a Finder-style media browser with Quick Look.
