What is Google Play Music?
Google Play Music, a service available for people who have a Google account, lets people upload their personal music collection and access it instantly on the web.
Upload your personal music collection to a single library, even if it's scattered across multiple computers. You can upload music files from any folder or add your iTunes library and all of your playlists. And when you add new music to your computer, it can be automatically added to your music collection online.
You can get to your personal music collection on the go with your Android or Apple device. Not online? No problem. The songs you've recently played will automatically be available offline. You can also select the specific albums, artists and playlists you want to have available when you're not connected.
Create your own custom playlists with just a few clicks. Or use Instant Mix to automatically build new playlists of songs from your collection that go great together. Playlists are automatically kept in sync, and you don't have to worry about cables, file transfers, or running out of storage space.

I am looking for Spotify alternative.. I see no progress since 2012. Though great player.
I love the stations and recommendations.
The free service is good as backup for your MP3 files but the player lacks some very basic functionality.
The companion Music Manager desktop application helps you automatically upload into your library new songs you add to your music folder and helps you know why some of the files could not be uploaded. I always find myself having to convert audio files I get from Youtube and even it has trouble accepting some mp3 files, which I have to reconvert again. For that I use Freemake Audio Converter.
The automatically created playlist named Last Added features the latest 500 songs added to your music library BUT you cannot sort this playlist in any way except for shuffling all songs, so if you want to see the latest songs you added, you will have to find them manually throughout your library.
The Recents view does not update to show you the latest songs added to the library either, it does show you some of the latest songs you played.
There is no tags you can add to songs, artists or albums either.
An average music player (i never used any of its streaming capabilities). Does the job, but creating playlists and sorting your music can be quite a chore with it. Plus, the constant ads for its streaming service wore me out.
Can upload 50,000 songs for free. And the recommender system is much better than Spotify.
lot better than SoundCloud. this offers better user experience, has more player options than SoundCloud. the radio feature in google play also helps it be better than SoundCloud
Free for three months, then you have to pay it.
