What is gittan.eu?

gittan.eu is a git hosting platform built around teams, not individuals. Every repository belongs to a team and every push to main runs a pipeline. If the pipeline passes, the push lands. If it fails, it's rejected - you see the full output in your terminal during git push.

No pull requests. Gittan replaces the PR review-and-merge workflow with pipeline-gated pushes. Code quality is enforced by automated checks — linting, tests, security scans, type checking, or anything else you want to gate commits on — not by waiting for approvals. This keeps teams shipping without bottlenecks.

Centralized pipelines. Platform teams define org-level pipeline policies that apply to every repo in the organization. Teams can't bypass mandatory steps like secret scanning or dependency audits. Individual repos can add their own steps on top, but the org baseline is always enforced. No more updating pipeline configs across hundreds of repos.

Supply chain security. Every pipeline run produces a signed provenance attestation - a tamper-proof record of what was built, from which commit, by which pipeline, with which steps passed. Container images pushed to images.gittan.eu include SLSA provenance metadata, so you can verify that what's running in production matches what your pipeline approved.

Key features:

  • Pipeline output streams live to your terminal during git push
  • Org, team, and repo-level secrets management (narrower scope overrides broader)
  • Automatic stack detection — push a Node, Go, or Python repo and gittan applies the right pipelines based on policies you define. Org policies add mandatory steps on top.
  • OIDC authentication, OTP logins
  • Built-in container registry at images.gittan.eu
  • CLI for managing teams, repos, pipelines, secrets, and deployments
  • Service accounts with OAuth2 client_credentials for CI/CD integrations

Model: Organizations contain teams, teams contain repositories. Permissions are simple - you're on the team (full access) or you're not (read-only). Team membership syncs from your identity provider's group claims.

Hosting: Fully managed SaaS at gittan.eu. Git over SSH and HTTPS.
