Git Extensions is soo underrated... I think it's the best Git GUI out there.

Actually version 2.51 still rather good and works on linux. Although it has some bugs in displayng but I still prefer it. 2.51 development is over, only bugfixes.

Lightweight Git wrapper. 3 version brings enhanced interface, some preview and tips inside modal windows may help to newbies and just save some time. But Differ is still puzzled, you should be very careful and look what panel highlight commit of interest.

As completely newbie to own git repos, so as a comment, rather than review

  • Handy all-in-one UI. TortoiseGit has little clumsy, non-intuitive split UI.
  • Good tool to maintain local repos. But
  • Diffs aren't visual friendly. Just unformatted diff output.
  • No syntax highlight in source and diffs and no way to change external editor from notepad. Editor in settings does nothing. Instead you have to always use Open with...
