Gisti keeps everything you write, copy or capture on your Mac in one panel and lets you search it by meaning rather than by exact words. A month later you remember what something was about, not how it was worded: type "flight to Berlin" and Gisti finds the note that says "plane tickets", along with the screenshot, the clipping and the copied link that belong to the same trip.
Press Option+Space and the panel is there. Semantic search runs on-device with a small embedding model that downloads once; related items are grouped into Topics automatically. Nothing is sent anywhere to be searched.
What goes into that library: quick Markdown notes, full clipboard history, screenshots with crop and backdrop, on-device OCR of everything you capture, readable copies of web pages saved from Safari, Chrome, Edge or Brave, and an app launcher in the same panel.
A record that arrives unreadable says what it is – Base64, JWT, JSON, XML, HTML, percent-encoding, a spreadsheet range – and one press shows it readable without changing the record. Code comes in color, in twenty-two languages.
Gisti is free: no paid tier, no subscription, no account. AI is an optional layer that is off until you turn it on, and you point it at a model running on your own Mac through Ollama, LM Studio or MLX, or at any OpenAI-compatible endpoint you run yourself. There is no server of ours in between.
