SIMPLE & RELIABLE !!
Over Many Years, I have Tested And Installed NUMEROUS Encryption Programs.
The BANE of most of them is their Excessive Complexity!!
“Folder Lock” by NewSoftwares.net is VERY Distinct in this regard — Setting things up was Easy-Peazy!! {{That is NOT to say that you needn’t read the SIMPLE instructions—I Highly Recommend that you DO—Since you are talking about Your DATA!!}} But what this DOES Mean is that the Instructions are CLEAR, BRIEF, & even a Tad Repetitive.
And if you DO have a Question, The "FAQ" Page is Extremely Thorough;
THEN, if you STILL have a Question, Their Support Email Works Quite Well (Altho, response takes about 2 days—Still, Quite Acceptable).
I HIGHLY Recommend FOLDER LOCK for ALL of your Security Needs!!
Over the Years, my LOCKED Folders on my PC have accumulated a TON of Various Folders, Subfolders, ETC., & I just throw my stuff in there and it is Perfectly Hidden & Securely ENCRYPTED.
And the one time that I did need email-support with a question, they responded with courtesy.
But MAINLY, they meet my Number ONE Requirement for all of my Encryption Programs:::
Folder Lock IS Simple, Simple, & umm, EASY!! –– HIGHLY Recommended!

It's a fine program but almost impossible for me to use.
As a PC nerd I frequently change my hardware and software but the licencing system frequently prevents me from using the program which I purchased.
I got this message from the developer when I could not register my serial (again):
'Folder Lock switches to trial mode, under the following circumstances: If a user installs a new windows user license or an already registered Folder Lock key; he or she makes changes/upgrades the hardware on his/her PC e.g. new motherboard hard drive etc.; logs in from another windows user account and sometimes even your anti-virus can prevent license registration, restricting communication with our servers.'
Better to use an alternative application which will work after installing upgrades or a different OS.
I totally agree with this opinion.
I've been using and stopping for years, and I've been looking for a different alternative.
Annoying the original user is the biggest drawback of the program.

I was not able to tell from your review whether NewSoftwares.net FORCED you to Re-Purchase “Folder Lock” -- OR Whether they simply made you go through the complete Registration Process Again!
Could you please tell me whether or not they were Requiring Payment for the 2nd Registration?
I have used "Folder Lock" for years. When my last computer died of old-age, I RE-INSTALLED Folder Lock & NewSoftwares.net Re-Registered on the new computer without any issue (Except for a couple days for them to respond).
Thank You! – Chuck

Folder Lock should be named "Folder Hide". According to help file, it can hide and/or lock a folder, but it is not true. You cannot only lock a folder without hiding it.
Other than that, it works as promised.
It is a blessing to have such a feature packed software that too easy to use. Its user friendly interface makes data security such an easy task for people like me. To me, it is the best data security software at the moment.
If it is "the best data security software" why then just 3 stars (I agree with the rating, just curious about your reasons).

it's more like a spyware application because whenever you connect to the internet, it connects to it's server in the background to check the serial number and etc. so it slows your speed. and when you run folderlock cpu usage increases. I don't like it. I prefer folder guard instead of folderlock, because it's faster and reliable.

Try to uninstall it from the program. To do this you must have a locker first, then go to Options, there will be a button to uninstall th program. I've tried this, and it worked.
