I registered to tell that this app should be avoided!! It's crap, full of ads and stuff. Instead, check rather out Amaze File Manager which is open source, free of ads and suspicious activity, and nicely designed. You'll find it in PlayStore, Fdroid, on GitHub and XDA.
I agree that the free version of the app is crap. Lots of bloat, unnecessary home screen with pretty pointless info, ads in the app.
With the Pro version, all that is gone, and it's quite a good app again. I was in a love/hate relationship with this app until I cracked and bought the Pro version. Now it's been serving me well and I have no problems with it.
Things I like: Windows switching between Local Storage, SD Card Storage, FTP allows me to copy files around really quickly. FTP/SFTP/FTPS support with public keys as a login. Google Drive storage access. Custom themes and backgrounds. App backup It has a cleanup mode which shows which folder takes up the most space in your storage
cracked version, it's still great.
This app used to be the best. But some time ago it started to go downhill. First it got bloated with functions and sideapps. Then internal ads for those sideapps got pushed onto the user. Then it started to use notifications for ads. And it got progressively worse and worse. I stayed with it, didn't wanna go through the hassle of learning another app. Today when I opened up the app, it started to play a video. For a second I thought I must've exited it when playing a vid but after a second I realized that this is an ad. That's right. This file explorer app starts up and immediately plays advertising videos. And that's the last straw for me. I will nuke it and I will never get any app from this company again. Horrible.
Used to be a very good app, now banned from the play store after they got bought up by a third party
The first file Manager I used. Ability to broadcast to Chromecast. FTP server. That's fine!

Find version 3.2.2.5, I think it's the last malware and ad free version.
Yes, I use the last version of third generation too, it's lite, feature rich and ad-free. I don't like 4th gen.
