What is Emoria?
Emoria is a free platform that brings together two things families usually juggle across separate, often paywalled tools: dignified online memorial pages for loved ones who have passed, and a living, collaborative family tree that connects generations.
MEMORIAL PAGES Each memorial can include a biography, photos and videos, a condolence book where friends and family leave messages, and digital memorial candles. Every page has granular privacy: public, password-protected or invitation-only. Pages are made to be kept permanently — not to expire behind an upgrade prompt.
FAMILY TREE The tree supports full GEDCOM 5.5.1 and GEDCOM 7.0 import and export, so you can bring in an existing tree from Ancestry, MyHeritage, MacFamilyTree, Gramps or similar — and take your data with you at any time. Trees support unlimited generations and collaborative editing, so several family members can build it together.
PRIVACY BY DESIGN Emoria deliberately separates the living from the deceased. Deceased people get memorial pages; living relatives are never added automatically and join only by invitation, keeping personal data consent-based and GDPR-friendly — a real difference from platforms that expose living people's data by default.
ALSO INCLUDED A curated archive of notable historical figures plus region and country hubs help you explore the wider context around your own family history.
Emoria's core is free forever — no subscription, no credit card, no vendor lock-in — funded only by optional extras such as premium memorial candles and additional storage. Available in English and German.
