GameVox vs Discord Comments
Best "Discord" alternative that exists. Has a self-hosted option. E2EE being implemented soon. Great pricing options for those so inclined. They call it a BETA but the product is ready to go. Used to be an OG GameVox user back in the early 2010's before Discord existed. The current implementation is miles better.
Currently deploying my own self-hosted server on a RPi5 in a week. Can't wait to get started. The only alternative to Discord with a "What We Believe" section I can fully get behind. Features are great. Program runs very fast and light. No bloat. Not Electron-based slop. Low bandwidth. Safe. Secure. What more can we ask for?! Open source for open audits? Maybe someday...? You never know. There has to be a will before there is a way. TRY IT NOW!
Ease of use, excellent support.

Disclaimer: I work for GameVox.
Before I became a part of the GameVox team, I was your average user, browsing for Discord alternatives early March 2026. I searched far and wide, many of the names in this alternatives list came up. One of them was GameVox. The other popular choice had unstable servers and I barely got the app to work. So, I chose GameVox. Besides how stable GameVox was compared to the other choice, even though it had its rough edges, the company policies align with my ethics.
"Your server, your rules". That's what got me.
The developer is attentive and he interacts with the userbase. I became passionate about the project and ended up becoming a part of the team. Plus, it's not built on Electron, which is a big win in my book! GameVox has become much more stable ever since I signed up.
That is why I think GameVox is a great alternative to Discord.
