I don't understand how they make it so bad... GPT-CODEX in the Codex CLI is amazing! Supernova on Kilo Code works pretty good then I use them in Windsurf and with the same prompts that work great in other places I get subpar results and it chugs along like an exhausted snail. Sonnet 4.5 in Claude-Code CLI is another one that is just... wow I blow through my 5hr usage limit on the CLI fast and...

What is Windsurf Editor?
Windsurf is an IDE that enables anyone to collaborate in lockstep with AI. Built by the Windsurf Plugins team, the Windsurf Editor combines the best of copilot and agent systems to help you ship products faster, leveraging better context to provide better suggestions.
The Windsurf Editor is powered by an AI that can both collaborate with you like a Copilot and tackle complex tasks independently like an Agent. The AI is completely in sync with you, every step of the way.
Cascade: Cascade combines deep codebase understanding, a breadth of advanced tools, and a real-time awareness of your actions into a powerful, seamless, and collaborative flow. It is the most powerful way to code with AI.

Comments and Reviews
Fantastic, easy to use and very useful. It gives very good autocomplete recommendations, I use them 80% of the time, and when there is something I don't know how to do I open the chat to find out

Supernova on Kilo Code works pretty good then I use them in Windsurf and with the same prompts that work great in other places I get subpar results and it chugs along like an exhausted snail. Sonnet 4.5 in Claude-Code CLI is another one that is just... wow I blow through my 5hr usage limit on the CLI fast and then try and finish some stuff in Windsruf and their Sonnet 4.5 runs at 1/10 the speed and half the intelligence... Windsurf has a good price tag for some things, but they are doing something to get that good price and it seems to be at the cost of the quality of the models.
I'll probably keep using them because of the price to get access to the models for down time when my limits are up on all my other subs, but if they raised their price without raising quality to match I'd stop using Windsurf even for a backup.
It’s good. I use it because the autocomplete feature works well most of the time and can really boost productivity. The agent mode also works well for simple tasks, using SWE.
The free tier is the main highlight here compared to GitHub Copilot and Cursor, but the pricing model isn’t the best. If you want to pay for an agentic AI assistant, I think other alternatives are better.
