Simple fast backup for Windows. At a glance - small and very lean, very fast delta copier, excellent user interface, device tracking, shadow copying, move/rename detection, run-as-a-service mode, robust support for multi-million item backups with terabytes of data, intelligent...

I used the free beta around 10 years. It worked fine. However, with its "delta copying" its profile takes over 0.5 Gb of space. That's why I'm looking for an alternative. My SSD is already small. Now I'm testing SyncBackFree. It takes 107 Mb.

I absolutely adore it. It's super simple, easy to udnerstand, yet powerful. It's got properly designed clean interface and it's really lightweight. Developers - this is how you design the user experience right. It recognizes moved or renamed files pretty well, removing the need of recopying same files multiple times when rearranging them on a source hard drive. I only managed to not track the file properly, when I moved the file out of the folder and then removed the folder itself - this resulted in removing the file and adding it again to the backup fodler. You can find that functionality on few other apps aswell, like. f.e. FreeFileSync, but they tend to leave additional setting files in synchronised folders - this one doesn't. Another free alternative to Bvckup 2 would be Microsoft SyncToy, but it just (for now) feels rough and limited.
I highly recommend it - for a 20$ this is a fine piece of software.

Easier to use and more robust and reliable than SyncToy. Yes, it is not free, but the integrity of my precious data is worth it!
Very clean and straightforward interface. Lightweight. Excellent performance. Reponsive customer support. In place updating to new versions. Everything about it communicates thoughtful engineering and attention to detail. Very reasonable pricing structure that works for both business and home. I've been using for 3 years and will continue. My only wish is that the same company would also make something for bare metal backup and restore.
So very, very simple. Install it. Select the drive or folders you want to back up (or both). Select where to back it up. That's it! It sits in the background, is completely unobtrusive and quietly works away without you even being aware of it. Decide when you want backups to happen, hourly, six hourly, daily, weekly or even immediately whenever you add, delete or change a file - you decide when the backup happens. I've used this piece of software for about five years and I'm still on the original license key. No version xxx is now available but you have to pay for it, buy a license, use the software for as long as you like including updates. I dare say that version three of the software might require a repurchase (if it ever gets written) but I wouldn't hesitate to do so given my experience with Bvckup 2. Having said that, I've been using version two for over five years! Now this might all sound like I have a vested interest in this software - I don't. I bought it years ago and the support I've had from the writer has been simply the best I've ever experienced. I've re-installed this many times on different machines as I've replaced computers and the writer has always answered my emails and has always sorted out any problems (not that there have been any, just re-registering). It's free to download for a trial, cheap to buy and I thoroughly recommend it to you!
I llike it because it's simple, very usefull, and efficient. That's the software i was looking for the replacement of Cobian Backup.
Simple out of the box, but configurable as heck when needed. Really damn fast too.
This review about sums it up perfectly :)
