    BFilter Alternatives

BFilter is described as 'filtering web proxy. It was originally intended for removing banner ads only, but since then its capabilities have been greatly extended. Unlike most of the similar tools, it doesn't rely on blacklists (although it does support them)' and is a Ad Blocker in the Web Browsers category. There are five alternatives to BFilter for a variety of platforms, including Windows, Mac, Linux, VirtualBox and Google Chrome. The best alternative is Privoxy, which is both free and Open Source. Other great apps like BFilter are Proxomitron (Free), CacheGuard-OS (Paid), Proximodo (Free, Open Source) and WebCensor (Free).

Proximodo is a loopback proxy server, seemingly a fork of proxomitron though likely abandonware. Unlike Proxomitron its developer is not existentially challenged. Additionally Proximodo can use Proxomitron filters. Unfortunately it does not support SSL connections.
