Proximodo

Proximodo is a loopback proxy server, seemingly a fork of proxomitron though likely abandonware. Unlike Proxomitron its developer is not existentially challenged. Additionally Proximodo can use Proxomitron filters. Unfortunately it does not support SSL connections.

(primarily from AI) Proximodo, a clone of Proximotron, keeps the same core filtering idea, can import and run Proxomitron filters, and adds a multilingual GUI. The original Proxomitron is often preferred by long-time users for familiarity and its mature filter ecosystem. Proximodo is the more portable/maintainable choice, while Proxomitron can still be the better choice if you already rely on its exact behavior and existing config files. Last update on Proximodo is 2005 though listed 2013 on SourceForge. Beyond portability and multilingual support, the main benefits Proximodo advertised were on-the-fly web filtering, header and HTML content modification, cookie cleanup on browser close, and forced page caching for faster revisits.

What is Proximodo?

Proximodo is a loopback proxy server, seemingly a fork of proxomitron though likely abandonware. Unlike Proxomitron its developer is not existentially challenged. Additionally Proximodo can use Proxomitron filters. Unfortunately it does not support SSL connections. This could be one answer to browser fingerprinting. It is a less browser-intensive mode of adBLOCKing / adBLOCK / adBLOCKer.
