The installation as a WordPress plugin is quick. Forums can be created easily, and also private forums are possible. For integration into an existing WordPress blog or website, this is a good solution. But nevertheless, bbPress is not as powerful and versatile as a proper, separate forum system.
easy and very helpful really
bbPress is currently used to power the dropbox forum. I think it looks nice.. Go and have a look: http://forums.dropbox.com/
Easy, small, clean, fast and WordPress integration (although not perfect). While it has been around for some years (at least 3) the project is still not very mature. You can install bbPress as a standalone forum but in the nearby future, bbPress will continue as a WordPress plugin instead for better integration.
