Platforms

  • Self-Hosted  Runs on any ordinary web host with PHP 8.1–8.4, including shared hosting. Five database options — SQLite (no DB server needed), MySQL/MariaDB, PostgreSQL. Five-minute web installer; one-click checksum-verified updates from the admin panel. Cloud-init install script for cloud servers.
  • PHP  Plain PHP 8.1–8.4 — no framework, no Composer dependencies, no build step. Upload and run the web installer; works on standard shared hosting (Apache or nginx). Existing FluxBB 1.5 boards can migrate in place, keeping their database.

eveBB is free, open-source forum software that continues FluxBB, which was abandoned in 2021. It keeps FluxBB's fast, lightweight character while running on modern PHP (8.1–8.4) and adds a visual post editor, a plugin system with an in-admin installer, downloadable styles, one-click self-updates verified against published checksums, and five database options, including SQLite (no database server needed). Existing FluxBB 1.5 boards can migrate in place, keeping their database. GPL-licensed, self-hosted, with an optional managed hosting service.
