I love Flarum already even though it's still in beta! It's perfect for my website because of it's flat theme and ui; Also, it looks promising! Modern interface, emojis, Font Awesome - you name it!

While it has the potential to be VERY GOOD, i just don't think it's ready for use by anyone. The way it relies on add-ons for most basic features of modern forums is a bit baffling, and the add-on menu gets hard to navigate really quickly.

Compared to Discourse, it is so much faster and lightweight, and simple as well... but couldn't we find that already in old and trusty simple php forums ? I don't feel it's a strong enough alternative right now to be considered the best, i wish it could, but it is still a interesting and suitable modern solution for some.

It is a very good-looking forum, it's perfect for building a small community. Although it is currently in Beta, it is better for me than for MyBB. It can be easily expanded by extension. I recommend for new people.

What is Flarum?

Flarum is free, open-source forum software with a focus on simplicity. You can use Flarum to easily set up a discussion forum for your website. Flarum is developed openly on GitHub.

It is the combined successor of esoTalk and FluxBB. It aims to be:

Fast and simple. No clutter, no bloat, no complex dependencies. Flarum is built with PHP so it’s quick and easy to deploy. The interface is powered by Mithril, a performant JavaScript framework with a tiny footprint.

Beautiful and responsive. This is forum software for humans. Flarum is carefully designed to be consistent and intuitive across platforms, out-of-the-box. It’s backed by LESS, so themeing is a cinch.

Powerful and extensible. Customize, extend, and integrate Flarum to suit your community. Flarum’s architecture is amazingly flexible, prioritizing comprehensive APIs and great documentation.

Free and open. Flarum is released under the MIT license.
