What is agent-manager?

agent-manager is a local-first terminal UI written in Go that sits on top of tmux and runs multiple AI coding agents side by side. Each row is a real tmux session running a coding CLI you already installed — with that tool’s login, config, MCP servers, and features unchanged.

From one list you can:

  • Spawn a new agent with a one-sentence prompt (and optionally into a fresh git worktree)
  • Switch among sessions and answer a blocked agent without attaching to its pane
  • See live status (working, waiting, finished, errored, idle, dead)
  • Group sessions by project path, fold/archive, and keep arrangement across restarts
  • Open whole-file diff review in the terminal and send line comments back into the agent
  • Kill a session to free RAM and later revive the same conversation
  • Let agents drive the manager over MCP (spawn teammates, message, wait, review)

Supported coding CLIs are built into the binary (including Claude Code, OpenCode, Codex, Grok Build, Gemini CLI, and others). Install via Homebrew (brew install agent-manager) or GitHub release binaries. Runs on macOS and Linux (amd64/arm64), and on Windows via WSL2. Requires tmux 3.1+ and git.

Not a cloud agent runner: nothing about your sessions, prompts, or repositories is sent by agent-manager; the CLIs you start talk to their own vendors. Free and open source under Apache-2.0.
