This is what I install on a new computer. Strong preference towards free and open source software. Hand picked.
What is Advanced REST Client?
Cross platform API testing Use ARC on any major platforms including Windows, MacOS and Linux.
Simplicity Easy and clean user inteface helps you make test request faster.
Works with Google Drive Store your requests and projects on Google Drive and share it with your team.
More data then other tools ARC implements it’s own HTTP client that works directly on a socket. As a result you receive detailed information about request timings, redirects and even sent HTTP message body.
No more limitations Unlike other tools, there’s no limitations for setting headers with the request or reading headers from the response. You can do more with ARC.
Native application ARC as a native application is now more powerful. Use your system variables in the application UI as a regular variable.
Open source More secure. If you are not familiar with "open source", it means this app is more secure. Because its code is publicly available for review and contributions on GitHub

Comments and Reviews
Unlike Postman, ARC does not provide a way to test WebSockets: only standard HTTP verbs are allowed (GET, POST etc.).
