What is Actual Budget?
Actual is a personal finance app that embraces the idea of "zero-based budgeting", where you budget every dollar you have. You can't add money to the budget that you don't have. This means your budget always reflects your real finances, instead of being made-up numbers that you have to continually reconcile and make sure are accurate.

Comments and Reviews
One of the most robust, open-source budgeting apps out there. The only missing part for me is a mobile version, as the native apps were discontinued, however there's a plan to improve the mobile UI of the web interface.
you can install it as PWA now, and being that it runs offline, it can be used when out and about and sync it when you get home (if self hosted)
"Actual is now open-source and 100% free. New signups are currently disabled until we figure out a plan for a potential hosted option. Go to the repo to learn more. You can self-host it and modify it however you want. See the blog post".
Looks like a viable replacement for Quicken Simplifi and Monarch Money now that both of those have nearly doubled in subscription price over the last couple of years. Connect your bank accounts with SimpleFIN Bridge and host an instance on PikaPods for an annual cost of less than half of those. Not as user friendly as Simplifi but still pretty simple once you connect your accounts.
Didn't do the job for me. I imported all my data using CSV but there were no viable options to automatically categorize or pre-process the data. It's also difficult to handle quarterly or yearly bills for example. This would result in a lot of manual work so I decided not to use the app.
Best budget app I've ever tried. I've been using it for over a year, and it's just plain down easy to comprehend and use. I like the "local first" design since I have poor internet service so I can access my budget all the time.
Clean design and great syncing between platforms.
