The best file archiver I've used on Linux. It supports almost all file formats, and it's fast and lightweight.

WinRAR, unlike the free 7-Zip open-source solution, offers added perks like AES-256 encryption, a data recovery function, and broader platform support, including Android. Ideal for users valuing a robust feature set, WinRAR’s user-friendly interface complements its high popularity.

WinRAR does not have an OS X compatible GUI. Only the WinRAR command line tool is OS X compatible.

This is a good alternative to the 7Zip GUI frontend. 7Zip for Linux only has the command line and library-based access, and users need a separate front end. FileRoller is currently the best available archive browser for GTK/GNOME based environments.

It uses the same engine and compression of 7zip, so if you care more about that than the GUI, this is the best.

LZ4 is an amazing program, don't get me wrong. It's best option for compression of a data stream with zero performance loss. However, it is a command line compression stream program (and library) for compressing a single file, not an archive creation program.
