GOG confirms the long-awaited oLinux version of the Galaxy client is in active development

GOG has confirmed that it is developing a Linux version of the GOG Galaxy desktop client after years of community requests. The launcher has remained unavailable on Linux despite GOG offering Linux versions of supported games. To support the project, the company has hired a dedicated Linux specialist.

GOG co-CEO Krzysztof Papliński said Linux support is one of the most requested features from users. However, the company has not announced a release date, roadmap, beta period, or launch window. Papliński described the project as a significant undertaking and said GOG is not yet ready to share specific plans or timelines.

It also remains unclear whether the Linux client will launch with the full Galaxy feature set, including library management, installations, updates, achievements, and integrations with other platforms, or whether these features will be added gradually. GOG says it plans to provide additional information about the Linux project later, but has not specified when the next update will be shared. Even though alternative launchers such as Heroic Games Launcher, Lutris, and Minigalaxy already let Linux users download and play GOG games, an official Galaxy client could provide more convenient access to the whole set of features and even better integration.
