Blender 5.2 LTS brings node-based physics, online asset libraries, and new fill algorithm

Blender 5.2 LTS has been released as the latest stable version of the free and open source 3D creation software. Standing out for long-term productions, this release offers two years of official support, with updates available through July 2028.

Geometry Nodes play a central role in Blender 5.2 LTS, introducing an experimental procedural physics system for hair and cloth simulations, new node types, and Compositor support for string nodes. VR location scouting is also now available, allowing users to immerse themselves in 3D scenes by blocking camera vantage points and examining camera properties directly in virtual reality.

Expanding creative workflows, Asset Libraries introduce remote hosting, so users can pull on-demand content from Blender Online Essentials or host their own assets. In rendering, Cycles adds a texture cache and Principled BSDF Thin Wall mode, while EEVEE resolves multiple longstanding usability issues.

Following these improvements, Grease Pencil receives a new fill algorithm, expanded brush toolset, and online asset integration alongside new settings for line materials. Sculpting workflows benefit from the addition of the Scene Project brush, Add Primitive operator, and a voxel remesher that now preserves vertex colors and attributes.

Animation, the Video Sequencer, and general interface enhancements further refine user experience with targeted optimization and quality-of-life updates.
