TIDAL sets standards for AI-generated music with explicit labels & no monetization allowed
TIDAL has established a new set of platform standards regarding AI-generated music, aiming to protect artists' rights and inform listeners about the content they access. Under these new rules, TIDAL will accept AI-generated music, provided it complies with platform policies, rights agreements, and distributor contracts.
Building on this policy, TIDAL will start identifying and labeling pure AI-generated music with a special icon for listeners beginning mid-July. As detection technology improves, these labels will expand to cover partially AI-generated tracks. Distributors will also be required to disclose AI-generated content before submission, making identification and transparency a core part of the user experience.
Alongside tagging, TIDAL will enforce measures against AI-generated music that abuses personal identity, deceives listeners, or compromises service quality. Effective from mid-July, any such content related to fraud or exploitation will be blocked and removed from the platform. Finally, AI-generated music determined to be wholly created by artificial intelligence will not be eligible for monetization, including direct-to-fan sales facilitated on the platform.
