AltStore launches on-device app sideloading without a computer or AltServer
The third-party iPhone app store AltStore has launched AltStore Classic 2.3b1, a beta update that introduces on-device sideloading for installing, refreshing, activating, and deactivating apps without a computer or AltServer. AltStore describes it as one of its most requested features, since it removes the need to keep AltServer running for regular app refreshes and makes it easier to manage the three-app sideloading limit from anywhere with a Wi-Fi connection.
The feature is currently available only to AltStore Patrons, with a wider rollout planned after further refinements. For now, beta users must manually connect AltStore Classic to an anisette server by entering a server URL in the app’s settings, allowing the app to communicate with Apple’s servers for sideloading functions without AltServer.
The update also brings the Liquid Glass UI from AltStore PAL to AltStore Classic, giving the app a design that fits better with iOS 26. AltStore Classic 2.3b1 also adds an ALT_CLASSIC_VER header when fetching sources, improves app icon loading by using each app’s tint color as the background color, and raises the minimum iOS requirement to 17.4.
