Sync-in 2.2 adds OCR search for PDFs, admin space controls, event processing, and more

Sync-in 2.2 introduces several upgrades to its file storage and collaboration platform. Improved search and indexing now use Optical Character Recognition (OCR) to extract and index images within PDF files, while Markdown file content is also included in searches. This expands file discoverability for all users.

In the administration interface, administrators gain the ability to create and manage spaces, allocate quotas, and monitor storage usage at both the user and space levels. Following these management updates, event processing has been enhanced: file actions trigger dedicated event processors, automatically updating storage calculations per user and space, and performing full-text indexing if the feature is enabled. This architecture increases information consistency and ensures file-related data remains up to date.

Managers are now able to manage guests' personal groups directly from guest profile settings, offering improved control for collaborative teams. The LDAP directory integration now supports additional Node.js Transport Layer Security (TLS) options, aiding more secure enterprise setups.

In terms of document handling, PDF files now open with the PDF.js viewer and can switch to edit mode when OnlyOffice is enabled. Group search has also been improved to factor in group descriptions. Lastly, Sync-in 2.2 includes several bug fixes to improve overall stability and usability.
