OPNSense Business Edition 26.4 adds OpenVPN custom configs, improved OpenID Connect & more
Deciso has released OPNSense Business Edition 26.4, code-named “Witty Woodpecker”, delivering targeted enhancements for professional and enterprise environments. Building on the Community Edition’s security and operational control, this version introduces deeper identity integration and more advanced traffic handling.
A notable addition is the option for custom OpenVPN configurations in the user portal, allowing administrators to generate tailored client profiles for flexible virtual private network (VPN) deployments. Enhanced OpenID Connect (OIDC) support improves identity claim management, giving organizations better access control and integration with providers like Microsoft Entra ID. As part of this, OPNcentral now lets enterprises opt out of automatic logins, adapting to centralized identity management workflows.
Further increases in operational insight include a mod_status diagnostics page for OPNWAF, making it easier to monitor web application firewall activity. The automatic host discovery service extends real-time visibility by identifying active devices on the network, streamlining asset tracking and troubleshooting.
Following the firewall management redesign in previous versions, the Business Edition introduces a more refined rules interface and an improved network address translation workflow, simplifying administration. A new divert feature ensures intrusion detection and firewall rules can bypass large volumes of low-risk traffic, yielding better overall system performance.
