Tower 15 beta brings syntax highlighting across diffs and the blame view for Windows users

Tower Labs has released Tower 15 in beta for Windows, delivering a visually-driven update that addresses one of the most common requests from developers over the years. The headline feature is syntax highlighting across diffs and the blame view, bringing color-coded code recognition to Windows for the first time, a capability that arrived on macOS back in Tower 10. This enhancement means keywords, strings, comments, and other language elements now appear in distinct colors, making code significantly easier to scan and review before committing changes. Dark mode support is included alongside the feature.

Beyond basic syntax coloring, Tower 15 introduces word-level highlighting inside modified lines, allowing users to pinpoint exact changes within lengthy code modifications rather than highlighting entire lines in monochrome. Complementing these visual improvements is a revamped theme system that enables users to create, customize, and share color schemes through .towertheme files that can be exported and imported across machines or shared with team members. Each appearance setting can have its own syntax theme, letting developers pair bright schemes with light mode and darker palettes with dark mode.

To try the beta, Windows users can switch to the beta release channel in the preferences. While the update focuses primarily on visual enhancements, Tower Labs also bundled various bug fixes and under-the-hood improvements in this release.
