Proton Lumo adds an editable canvas for document, code, and web page creation
Proton's Lumo AI assistant now has its own canvas, similar to ChatGPT Canvas and Claude Artifacts, allowing users to create and edit documents, code, and interactive web pages alongside the chat. Users can continue conversations, request changes, or select specific passages and code sections for targeted edits using options such as Improve or Explain. Lumo automatically distinguishes regular chat responses from creations, although this behavior can be disabled in the settings.
The canvas supports formatted documents, interactive web previews, and manual document editing through formatting controls or a Markdown source view. Each AI-generated revision or saved manual edit creates a new version, allowing users to review, copy, download, or save previous versions to Proton Drive.
A new Library → Creations section also brings together creations from different conversations, with each item linking back to its original chat. Proton says the latest versions are stored as separate files protected by zero-access encryption, while older versions remain in encrypted conversation history. The company also states that it does not log conversations or use them for model training.
