Google Chrome's Gemini-powered enhanced autofill can now pull information from Gmail
Google has announced that Chrome's enhanced autofill feature can now suggest information drawn directly from a user's Gmail inbox when they fill out online forms. The feature is powered by Gemini with Personal Intelligence and can surface details such as order numbers, tracking information, and flight bookings as forms are completed. The company framed the update as a way to spare users the chore of switching tabs or digging through their inbox to find information, building on autofill's existing handling of basics like names, addresses, and payment card numbers.
According to the announcement, Google plans to extend the capability further, allowing enhanced autofill to securely access information from images stored in users' Google Photos libraries. On privacy, the company said sensitive data is encrypted and that users remain in control, with the ability to manage whether enhanced autofill is switched on and what it is permitted to access through Chrome settings. The rollout is beginning in the United States across desktop, Android, and iOS, but is limited to users of Gemini in Chrome who have Personal Intelligence enabled.
