Forgejo 17.0 adds workflow webhooks and job summaries
Forgejo has released version 17.0 of its open-source, self-hosted code collaboration platform, introducing improvements to Forgejo Actions, repository management, and migration tools. The update changes how absolute links in repository documents are resolved, now using the repository root instead of the instance root, while issue and pull request content remains unaffected. This is a non-LTS release supported until January 28, 2027.
Forgejo Actions receives several updates, including new workflow and job webhooks with configurable status notifications, replacing the deprecated action run events that require manual migration. The Actions API now supports rerunning completed workflows and jobs, filtering logs, retrieving individual steps, and exporting logs in NDJSON format. Job summaries are also supported with Forgejo Runner 13.2 or newer, including Markdown content, tables, and diagrams.
Other additions include Donate buttons through FUNDING.yml files, automatic issue and pull request references using # or !, improved Git LFS management, and organization membership invitations with support for adding users to multiple teams at once. Forgejo 17.0 also introduces repository migration support for Bitbucket Data Center, including pull requests, reviews, and comments, while migrations from Gogs, GitLab, Gitea, and Forgejo now preserve repository avatars.
